When I look at myself, I see...
When people look at me, they see a happy confident woman. When I look at myself, I still see that grade school girl who was called three-eyes, because she had a lazy left eye and had to wear glasses and an eye patch. I still see the girl who would be mocked on the school bus every day with mean kids singing about me getting hit with a bowling ball and asking her what is the number between 43 and 45, because she couldn’t say her r’s. I see the girl who hid in the bathroom when she came home from school and cried until her eyes could not cry anymore. I see the girl who thought if she could just be thinner, more beautiful, she would be accepted by others... she could be loved by someone.
My mindset is always and forever going to be a muscle I am training.
Memories are memories and they do not just disappear. It is how we decide to let them wash over us that day.
Today, I will acknowledge that my little director in my head is yelling that I am not good enough, but I will work on my 4 steps of a Pineapple Mindset:
- Find gratitude
- Lean on my community
- Acknowledge my inner and outer emotions and know that they are both beautiful to show to the world
- Stand as tall and I can today and know that every piece of you has something to offer.
If you want to work on your Pineapple Mindset, let me know! I am always here to be part of your support system and help provide the resources you need.
